Brilliant video, good comments, especially about how the ice cream price could be adjusted to pay for the spoons. Great entrepreneur, watching him made me happy and you!
I’m so happy to hear you enjoyed it! He is doing incredible (pun intended) work. I’m glad you are enjoying the videos Shrijita! 🙂
He got a superb partner!
He definitely did!
This is the first time an entrepreneur who grew up in India and went to the US for his Masters is pitching in Shark Tank USA, this was heavenly inspiring.
Yep. We’ve had desis on shark tank before. But not first gens

He copied this idea from another company in india you can see the edible spoon video on National Geographic channel.
@Sumit Mondal We talked about this over company in the interview I did with him on my channel. I appreciate you watching and commenting!
He really did do a great job!! I appreciate you watching and commenting!
Great video Joe…however I’m pretty sure someone came with a similar product on shark tank. So I’d be careful on treading with the patent and legalities. I think it was season#2 or #3.
Thank you! You know, now that you mention it. I kind of feel like you are right, I’m gonna look into it. I did every pitch in season 2, but working my way through season 3 now.
I appreciate you Kartik!
Season 7 has the edible cup. https://allsharktankproducts.com/shark-tank-products-food-and-drink/loliware-edible-cups/
Only watch for the free shark tank, your annoying but thanks for the free content
I appreciate you telling me I’m annoying. I’m not sure what you expect to get out of it? Should I just stop so you can’t get the thing you are only here for?
No keep it up:) it’s a good annoying
I’m here for you. 🙂
At this price point and for the cause he’s supporting , this would totally work as an upsell. Give customers who want to help the planet (at the point of purchase) the ability to buy an edible spoon for 25 cents. 80% won’t but 20% may. But if the option is not there 99% will choose the plastic spoon.
Yeah, I would definitely pay a quarter to eat a spoon and help plastic waste.
I can see this blowing up on social media. Vegan/eco friendly restaurants. Ice cream shops don’t need to get rid of all their plastics, but this would be an additional option for $1. Even though it costs $11.99 for 20 (about .60 cents each) it’s more of a novelty conversation starter that is eco friendly. It’ll be a longggg while before we get rid of plastics but this is one fun way to start.
I’m excited to see this option available to more people across the planet. I agree it is definitely a conversation starter! I appreciate you watching and commenting Camper Gram!
10 CENTS COST…….=’S $1/10X MARK UP,,,,,,PERIOD!
I would pay one dollar for this spoon, if I had option. Many people would pay that.
I agree, that some will pay for it. I think a dollar is a bit much, especially if you are getting one for each person in your family. In my case, adding $4 to an already high ice cream bill is a lot. But adding a $1 for 4 is right in the sweet spot. I appreciate you watching and commenting!!
These would KILL IT in a Disney Park!!!
Yes!! Animal Kingdom is the first and no brainer. I appreciate you watching and commenting!
As an up sell it works. They do it with french fries.
“Ya want a spoon with that?”
Definitely!! 🙂 I appreciate you watching and commenting Magic Brad!
Bakeys an Indian edible cutlery brand from India was the “world’s first ” edible spoon that can be manufactured “at scale”.
Note: As clarified by @dinesh himself in the reply, their claims were backed by proofs & patents but got jump cut in the episode.
Oh wow! I had not heard of that company before.
I appreciate you watching and commenting Darshan!
Thanks for bringing this up. The previous company which brought edible cutlery few years ago, couldn’t scale to meet up with the demand. As engineers by profession, we tried to help them but they didn’t respond to us. To make our impact based mission come true, we invented the machinery that can make the edible cutlery at scale – this was discussed in the full pitch at the tank, but was edited out. Our patent and IP is the machinery and technology – not just the product itself. We had to change the recipe, did 80 different trials in different industrial settings and finally after selling our home and spending all our savings made this company and brand possible. Dinesh
Thank you for replying Dinesh! I’d love to have you come on for an interview and talk about your Shark Tank experience like other contestants have.
I appreciate you watching and commenting Dinesh!
Why then in the initial sales pitch write up the claims that you got this idea one day by eating ice cream, while this was available way back in 2016. I was one of the backers to bakeys and never got my spoons.
Why would you want to add extra calories to.your meal with these utensils? It would be awesome if it didnt have calories.
That is a great question Nichole! Though at 20 calories, it doesn’t seem like it’s too much of an issue. Plus most people in America (myself included) don’t have a problem with the calories. Whether we should or not, is another question. lol
But maybe there is an opportunity for an even lower calorie or no calorie option in the future!
I appreciate you watching and commenting Nichole!
I think if you’re eating ice cream that’s the least of your concerns. The main goal is saving the planet and that’s good enough.
Thank you Trident! I do what I can to keep it as genuine, as first reaction without spoiling it for myself prior. Off the top of my head and experience without editing the video.

these edible spoons actually exist in India for a long time now, he probably stole the recipe and created his product.

I have to try these!!
I’m looking forward to trying it too! I appreciate you watching and commenting!
I’m glad to hear that he inspired you. He replied to a comment here about the other company. I appreciate you watching and commenting Sindhura!
People use spoons to get germs in your hands out of the food. now you eat the germs.. what a way to go. Still, other applications of this product will work.
Just don’t eat the end of the handle. But I don’t think eating germs is how you wind up sick with most viruses. According to that Shark Tank pitch for the nasal filter stickers, can’t recall, most illnesses enter through the nose, eyes and ears. I appreciate you watching and commenting Don!
Wouldn’t ice cream shops and restaurants and whatever else be selling smaller quantities of their own food when using these? Because this is edible and will take up some room in tummies. So wouldn’t this be cutting down their own food costs as well? Sounds like a win-win to me
Quite possible, especially if they charge for the spoon! I appreciate you watching and commenting!!

I’d pay $1.50 extra to have one of those spoons
That would likely be my max. I appreciate you watching and commenting Jason!!
@Super Joe Pardo If your one of the investors would you have invested in the idea? And Why?
If I was one of the Sharks I would likely be interested in being a part of it. But I would want to do my due diligence to check to make sure that the energy use to create the spoons is being offset enough. Assuming that it is indeed a carbon neutral endeavor, I’d be in.
I am scheduled to chat with Dinesh later today. 🙂

Hope he’s related to Narayana Peesapathy ( another Indian who’s the original inventor of this product ) & gotten authorization or working with him on this… otherwise you’re looking for a big lawsuit , if not just PR nightmare if this was pickedup by a major brand name , as it would be completely unethical ( even if they get around IP issues)!
You can learn about the original inventor here –> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4Cc5zmy0eY

Thank you watching and commenting Myra. As I stated above, we talk about this in the interview I did with Dinesh.
The fact that he got into the US for a master’s in electrical engineering and has mastered a sellable concept to that level is amazing. Usually ppl go from a bachelor’s degree in engineering to the US and then proceed coz it helps with learning the lingo. He has the business acumen and knows marketing well. I wouldn’t know equity or anything else about business. So he is heading in the right direction. I too thought how patenting would work since many restaurants and ice cream bars wouldn’t buy from someone else but would rather make these utensils themselves. So u never know whether the company would fade after a few years. But for a foreigner to do the marketing, get the lingo right for an American audience and get the product in a package to sell is amazing. Kudos to him to making it this far. Plus I’m sure his degree would help him with manufacturing these items quicker and he can maybe get a 3D prototype to make these utensils at the restaurants.
Loved his pitch. He should have just taken a few seconds and start eating a spoon in the middle of it.
Haha yeah could’ve made for good TV! I appreciate you watching and commenting!

If they upsale it- will lead to two things: people get their own utensils whenever they head out or take the eatable spoon price added to their takeouts. If this is implemented or enforced, it’s a win-win for the environment.
So this is whats been happening in India: they banned plastic bags in many grocery stores and other stores. I have been staying in India for half an year now and I have by far not seen 1 plastic bag in a grocery place.
Customers are expected to bring their own cloth bags to the store and if they forget, they have to pay about 20-70rs for a cloth bag to carry their groceries. And knowing the Indian “save money” mindset no one will do that and so they get their own bags and feel miserable when they forget.
oh god people can send 20 cents for our earth.
One would hope. I appreciate you watching and commenting!
oh god, people can spend 20 cents for our earth or 20 % less ice cream , good for them and earth.
Who the hell drinks water with a straw?
I dont think thepricematters its like he says they just charge the customer by raising prices on the food customer wont find out and were saving the world
I don’t get one thing: there is only one flavour for example for the fork.. What if it doesn’t match with what I’m eating? You need a lot of flavours. You’ll need a LOT of inventory. And I don’t know the shelf time this has I hope it’s a lot. Also..how is it wrapped? In plastic? At least in my country I can’t have those in a container, each one has to be individually wrapped when given to the public
I have a food business and I have “paper/wood” forks and spoons for the takeaway, I have a lot of different foods.. How much do I have to store of these if I have to have different flavours?
I’m mark and because you countered me and I think I’m hot shit I’m out

I am from india and this guy is not a genius and he is a con artist. He copied this product from a European ted talk show by an indian scientist. He is clearly an opportunist whereas the scientist was working for a cause to save ground water in Indian drought vulnerable regions. That’s why you don’t get an update on this company in shark tank. I think lori stepped out of this venture because I didn’t get to see this guy on Lori’s billion dollar shark tank sales meet 2022.
