I turned it off within two minutes of watching the live version of Shark Tank!!! Worst Idea ever, how did the sharks agree to this! Completely ruined. Will not watch now
Hi, Super Joe,
What worked:
I liked the live element of the show. And I don’t know why so many people don’t understand what “live” means, for example “Live with Kelly and Ryan ” but several prime time shows have aired live episodes. A few I’ve seen before are: “Gimme a Break “, Nell Carter’s ’80’s sitcom, 30 Rock ( 2 episodes,), Fox sitcom “Roc” with Charles Dutton, (several live episodes). And of course “Saturday Night Live”. Being live on the air injected the element of the unknown or unexpected, like we would maybe see something going awry. The live in studio audience added some synergy to the fun and excitement.
What didn’t work:
The audience was too hyped up and loud, often drowning put what the Sharks were saying.
The survey questions before commercial breaks were a waste of time which could have been better used.
Sharks showboating their successes. Barbara alluded to her Comfy product twice (milking it for applause), and then Lori screaming out for no reason “Scrub Daddy “.
Sharks screaming and arguing over each other, especially the third deal.
What could they do better:
Air just one live episode per year. Your idea of a summer broadcast is perfect because the Sharks are taping their shows in one big batch in early summer so it would be relatively easy to do a live episode as all the Sharks are already there.
ABC needs to better promote the live show with more clarity. Viewers did not understand it was for one date only. Message boards showed a large majority disliked it, many of them very strongly. Of course we out here in the west always get it recorded due to different time zones.
And Joe, you look great!!! I like your “Ding Ding” shirt also. Thanks for your videos. I look forward for them.
I totally agree on the showboating. They do usually scream over each other, but we don’t see that because it is highly edited. The questions did feel phony and did waste valuable time on a 1 hour and five minute broadcast. Definitely more clarity is needed. I was thinking this morning they could use the Shark Tank Live: Redemption and do just redemption entrepreneurs like the third entrepreneur Tate. And that sucks being on the west coast watching it not-live. Though when I was on the west coast I loved being able to watch the World Series and then it only be like 8 pm and could watch a movie after the game. lol
Thank you so much TJ! Still got some ways to go towards my goals but they are definitely only 30-60 days away at this time. 🙂 Have a great week!!
Another thought I had: This robbed the entrepreneurs of being able to pre-promote for their business being on Shark Tank AND it prevented them from being able to attend their own watch party (if they were even able to have one since they apparently kept it a secret.)
I really enjoy watching your Shark Tank commentaries in particular. I think you do a phenomenal job with it, and I also enjoy the show. I haven’t settled yet on how I feel about the show being live. It’s a different kind of feel. I don’t think I prefer it, but I don’t *dislike* it…
I can appreciate it. I wish the comments online reflected it for being what it is, something different. I appreciate you watching and commenting Karen!

They definitely didn’t do a great job with the format, could’ve been so much better. But it’s only for that one episode.

Didn’t realize that many people complaint .
I found another Shark Tank post promoting the new season not the live and it was crazy how many people commented about how much they hated the live.
I liked the energy with the audience
