So far, I haven’t heard of specific items that they’ve actually held hostage. If they don’t get a positive reaction and a ton of people buying into their total-tech program then I don’t they will continue that benefit. I feel like they should’ve introduced this in January or February to build up momentum with the program before making an announcement that could potentially turn people off from shopping there.

Just made a purchase and paid for a 4-Year Geek Squad Product Replacement at approximately $35 each for four items totaling $140. I looked at purchasing the BestBuy Totaltech, but it is $200, so $60 more only covers two years, and you HAVE TO PAY a service fee based on item cost. The service fee for items costing $200 to $499 is $49. Each of the four items purchased is more than $200, so I would have to pay $49 to replace or fix it? Wait, so it would cost me more in the long term for half the coverage. Also, you can only make two claims per year. This is an absolute scam, and I now understand how BestBuy makes money on this program. The service fee and limited claim limit reduce their cost considerably. Not to mention my Elite Plus status and benefits that I worked at maintaining by purchasing at BestBuy exclusively are gone? That’s ok I can now make purchases at other retailers and not have to do price matching for everything as I did before for every BestBuy purchase saving more money in the long run. I have no idea how this will work for BestBuy, but I am sure as more Elite and Elite Plus members find out Bestbuy has canceled these programs, BestBuy will suffer.
