Joe Wilner is a life-coach, clinically licensed psychotherapist, and drummer with the band Yes You Are. After going to graduate school and following the traditional life path of success, Joe realized he wasn’t fulfilled. It was then that he connected with the band Yes You Are and embarked on a journey of trying to be a professional drummer. After committing to follow his dream of drumming, Yes You Are went on a national tour as the support act for The Neon Trees. Joe was able to fulfill a life-long dream and became inspired to help others do the same.
Joe Wilner created the blog and online community You Have a Calling to help “dream chasers” discover and pursue their life’s work and mission. Through deep and personalized coaching, he helps ambitious, creative, and spiritually minded individuals make a greater impact, grow as leaders, and design a soulful life they are inspired by. Joe believes everyone has a calling where their passions and strengths can merge to create a successful life of contribution and significance.

]]>I brought mics, mic stands, a voice recorder, a mixer, 5 pairs of headphones, and more for this event so I could be prepared for anything. When I arrived I promptly got to setup and test all of the equipment. Of course I ran into a slight issue with my equipment but was able to knock it out before the recording of the NAMM Foundation Podcast, “Talking Up Music Education” got started. Afterwards, I even got to take a picture with Ben Folds which you can check out below.
I invite you to listen to the episode as it is was just a magical experience for me! Ben Folds and Ben Vereen talk about the importance of music education in this episode. I found myself wanting to ask questions but had to stop myself as I did not have a mic in front of me (I wasn’t hosting the episode).

]]>Connect with Geoff Langley!
Geoff Langley and I have been friends for over a decade, and I have gotten the privilege to watch him not only succeed at living out his dream, but come into his own musically. Finding himself leaving southern New Jersey to head up to New York City was a big step and so far success has followed. Geoff taking the leap and spending thousands of dollars to help him and his band produce their first album was an undertaking he seen as worth it, because of his passion and love of music.
I am really happy that Geoff Langley was able to finally about to take sometime to come into my studio and record this episode. I believe there is a lot to learn from his experience, even if you aren’t pursuing music as a career.
