Dzhelasi’s Art Passion Turned Career
Check out the full episode here:
Dzhelasi fell in love with art from an early age and turned it into a career!
Dzhelasi’s dad took her to work when she was young, and she loved seeing what
the graphic artists at his job were doing. She got support from much of her
family to help grow her passion into a career. Her sister helped her along with
getting clients to draw for, and now is doing it full time.
Being a full-time artist has been a bit of a challenge that she has enjoyed,
because she loves what she does. She is a single mother, and is currently
working on her own apparel line.

audience a bit of your background
11
00:00:45,230 — 00:00:50,209
well i’m a 31 year old mom graphic
designer and artist from New York I
12
00:00:50,210 — 00:00:54,79
worked under the alias des Murray and
I’ve been doing so since about $MONTH
13
00:00:54,79 — 00:01:01,340
2005 started off with virtual gaming
sites and move my way up to essentially
14
00:01:01,340 — 00:01:05,300
making my own business and getting my
name out there freelance wise so what
15
00:01:05,300 — 00:01:11,000
would you say inspires you freedom and
expression doing what i want i think
16
00:01:11,000 — 00:01:14,930
that drawing helps me relieve any stress
is from the world and i’m finishing
17
00:01:14,930 — 00:01:18,800
pieces me a sense of accomplishment the
fact that people like my work as an
18
00:01:18,800 — 00:01:20,179
added bonus
19
00:01:20,179 — 00:01:24,679
i’m glad that i have had the time to
manage something that I love and I can
20
00:01:24,679 — 00:01:25,759
do as a career
21
00:01:25,759 — 00:01:29,630
how did the stream of drawing come about
it’s pretty much my dad he drew and
22
00:01:29,630 — 00:01:34,369
created a lot of artwork and things like
that he worked as a Pressman for a
23
00:01:34,369 — 00:01:40,250
printing company so one day around maybe
fourth grader so i attended what was
24
00:01:40,250 — 00:01:45,140
that take your daughter to work day and
he took me to the printing company but
25
00:01:45,140 — 00:01:49,39
unfortunately he didn’t let me really
mess around with any of the machines
26
00:01:49,39 — 00:01:54,50
because they were expensive and really
messy huh I didn’t really want to mess
27
00:01:54,50 — 00:01:57,739
with them anyway because the ink was
very hard to take out of the clothes so
28
00:01:57,739 — 00:02:02,929
he pretty much said for the time to pass
just sit here on this computer and
29
00:02:02,929 — 00:02:08,60
occupy yourself and I saw some workers
that he still work with we’re doing some
30
00:02:08,60 — 00:02:12,590
digital art on the computer and from
there it was like my first experience
31
00:02:12,590 — 00:02:18,260
with being interested in art software in
digital art and design and things like
32
00:02:18,260 — 00:02:23,329
that so it started from there and then
when i got home i press them like dad
33
00:02:23,330 — 00:02:26,690
