This week I have a HUGE announcement to make. Dealing with fear of defeat had definitely weighed on my mind, but I am happy to announce: I was offered a job by HopeWorks, and I accepted! I will be working with teens to help them develop skills for both the work force, and starting their own business. While at the same time helping HopeWorks grow its web development company to help support the nonprofit. I go into great detail in this episode and what this means for my business and projects.

Thank you all for the support and love I have received over the past 2.5 years. This is far from the end! This is really just the beginning of even bigger and better things to come for me, my family, my platform, and my business.

Check out the YouTube video above or listen to the podcast on iTunes.

I hope you are all enjoying these mini episodes that I am publishing to YouTube. Please let me know what you think in the comments or shoot me an email. 🙂

00:00:00,000 –> 00:00:07,350
hey dreamers Joe Pardo here and I hope
you’re all having a wonderful wonderful

2
00:00:07,350 –> 00:00:08,370
week

3
00:00:08,370 –> 00:00:14,639
it’s Friday so I’m here to do a topic
show i had a head you know I have a

4
00:00:14,639 –> 00:00:19,410
whole bunch of topics setup that I want
to do but today I really want to talk

5
00:00:19,410 –> 00:00:29,279
about the I well goals right so I had
some dreams when I set out to start the

6
00:00:29,279 –> 00:00:33,120
dreamers podcast meeting people and
connecting with awesome people doing

7
00:00:33,120 –> 00:00:39,269
amazing things was definitely one of
them and inspiring people and helping

8
00:00:39,270 –> 00:00:42,809
people figure out what it is that they
want to do with their life it’s also

9
00:00:42,809 –> 00:00:51,539
important to me and i think i’ve done a
really great job of that arm so I was so

10
00:00:51,539 –> 00:00:58,680
last week you saw was in disneyland that
was young was in LA and getting the

11
00:00:58,680 –> 00:01:03,449
process started on writing a co authored
book with dr. Jeff Barnes called the

12
00:01:03,449 –> 00:01:06,390
wisdom of all four kids that’s a working
title it’s probably gonna be called

13
00:01:06,390 –> 00:01:12,869
something else and then I landed I i
left at two or was it like 1030 at night

14
00:01:12,869 –> 00:01:22,80
california time I landed at like 6am on
on friday morning i drove down to DC

15
00:01:22,80 –> 00:01:25,830
pipette some rockin the the DC podcast
shirt right here it’s a great Church out

16
00:01:25,830 –> 00:01:29,850
bc pot fest if you know you didn’t go
this year you should totally go next

17
00:01:29,850 –> 00:01:34,979
year was a really great time really
great people and totally worth the the

18
00:01:34,979 –> 00:01:39,119
money and my time to go sat so I got
back

19
00:01:39,119 –> 00:01:44,340
well actually when I landed it was like
fire

20
00:01:44,340 –> 00:01:48,509
you know about 6am 545 or something like
that and i got an email just as I was

21
00:01:48,509 –> 00:01:52,140
like standing up like and I’m looking at
my phone and I’m like

22
00:01:53,380 –> 00:01:57,939
this is an interesting email i got an
email some of you may remember I

23
00:01:57,939 –> 00:02:04,600
interviewed a guy named Dan wrote and
arm like a lot that long ago but it

24
00:02:04,600 –> 00:02:10,269
seems like that longer with so many
episodes since then when i was at a was

25
00:02:10,269 –> 00:02:14,800
a a an event for entrepreneurs and I and
I set up my podcast booth and I

26
00:02:14,800 –> 00:02:18,519
interviewed these a bunch of different
people over there and dan was one of

27
00:02:18,519 –> 00:02:24,489
them and I’ve done talks for their
organization hope work’s you go check it

28
00:02:24,489 –> 00:02:30,790
out hope work stopped work anyway they
do like some really awesome things they

29
00:02:30,790 –> 00:02:34,750
they get kids out of really horrible
situations kids that have been

30
00:02:34,750 –> 00:02:41,769
trafficked abused homeless and what they
do is they give them the an education in

31
00:02:41,769 –> 00:02:49,360
computers so that they have the skills
to then go and become web developers or

32
00:02:49,360 –> 00:02:54,10
police officers you know it starts with
computers and learning how to program

33
00:02:54,10 –> 00:02:59,200
and it ends with helping them get a job
doing whatever it is that they want to

34
00:02:59,200 –> 00:03:04,750
do and so iíve done talks for them and
I’ve even done work for them like over

35
00:03:04,750 –> 00:03:09,69
the summer i started doing some you know
freelance work for them on their web

36
00:03:09,69 –> 00:03:16,268
design so they have a company that
that’s all set up to give the the kids

37
00:03:16,269 –> 00:03:20,769
the teens when they when they learn the
skills they have a place to go in turn

38
00:03:20,769 –> 00:03:26,319
out as a paid internship now they can go
internet subaru is one of their partners

39
00:03:26,319 –> 00:03:30,518
and a hospital is one of the possible
like they have a lot of different like

40
00:03:30,519 –> 00:03:35,709
30 different places that these that
these teens can go and intern at once

41
00:03:35,709 –> 00:03:43,180
they’ve gone through the program anyway
when when i check this email I was like

42
00:03:43,180 –> 00:03:49,780
hey they’re looking for somebody to be a
web director and I was like you know

43
00:03:49,780 –> 00:03:55,599
that’s that’s interesting you know dad I
God you know anybody interested in like

44
00:03:55,599 –> 00:04:00,160
you know I might actually be interested
so I unfortunately at that point I had

45
00:04:00,160 –> 00:04:04,900
to get off the plane and then I had to
go get my car and drive down the DC from

46
00:04:04,900 –> 00:04:05,740
Baltimore

47
00:04:05,740 –> 00:04:10,300
and you know I was helping pull out
chairs and get things set up so i was

48
00:04:10,300 –> 00:04:13,390
there so early and it was a really great
time

49
00:04:13,390 –> 00:04:18,219
uh you know and all that but at some
point I think like maybe like three

50
00:04:18,220 –> 00:04:22,810
hours on that when things start to
settle down i picked out my phone and

51
00:04:22,810 –> 00:04:26,680
said hey you know I might be interested
in this position I would love to to

52
00:04:26,680 –> 00:04:30,610
learn some more about about what you’re
looking for and how we could work

53
00:04:30,610 –> 00:04:32,230
together on it

54
00:04:32,230 –> 00:04:37,510
well little did I know that uh you know
he’s like oh this is great yeah let’s do

55
00:04:37,510 –> 00:04:37,870
it

56
00:04:37,870 –> 00:04:41,920
um let’s get together tuesday will
tuesday happened and I went over there

57
00:04:41,920 –> 00:04:47,890
and we went out to go out to dinner and
and had a really great time and and and

58
00:04:47,890 –> 00:04:51,849
i really loved what he was telling me
about what they’re looking for they’re

59
00:04:51,850 –> 00:04:55,720
looking for someone to help grow that
web development business so they can

60
00:04:55,720 –> 00:04:59,50
take on not just interns but employees
and expand it

61
00:04:59,50 –> 00:05:03,340
I as well as one other other one of the
other companies that they have set up as

62
00:05:03,340 –> 00:05:08,80
well so it’s like oh great so you know
I’m becoming this web director but

63
00:05:08,80 –> 00:05:13,870
really what I’ll be coming in as as is
as is a force to help expand their

64
00:05:13,870 –> 00:05:18,640
business and expand their clients and
expand with their clients expect from

65
00:05:18,640 –> 00:05:23,860
them so not just like hey how do I you
know can get a pretty website you know

66
00:05:23,860 –> 00:05:29,800
it’s more like hey can you get a pretty
website and now we can suggest hey have

67
00:05:29,800 –> 00:05:33,190
you looked at leadpages have you looked
at this have you looked at that all

68
00:05:33,190 –> 00:05:38,469
these different these different things
that are that are going on in in the web

69
00:05:38,470 –> 00:05:42,370
space in the marketing space in the
content creation space and that’s all

70
00:05:42,370 –> 00:05:46,210
the things that I bring to the table as
well as the business knowledge on the

71
00:05:46,210 –> 00:05:52,330
backend to help grow that grow that
business to get you more employees have

72
00:05:52,330 –> 00:05:56,650
more teens get more education get jobs
and even to help them start their own

73
00:05:56,650 –> 00:06:03,460
businesses in the long run which is
really I you know it’s exactly i I

74
00:06:03,460 –> 00:06:07,989
couldn’t ask for some a better position
without when I got started one of the

75
00:06:07,990 –> 00:06:13,360
things that I was doing with this show
and was hope was that was hopeful for

76
00:06:13,360 –> 00:06:18,40
was like hey if I do this show and I and
I build these and I write these books

77
00:06:18,40 –> 00:06:19,300
and build these products

78
00:06:19,300 –> 00:06:23,949
books and I was like it’s going to pull
people to me to the level that I’m gonna

79
00:06:23,949 –> 00:06:29,80
be able to get consulting work i’m going
to be able to help other people that are

80
00:06:29,80 –> 00:06:32,50
going to be like hey I want to work with
Joe and this is gonna be awesome and

81
00:06:32,50 –> 00:06:36,729
this is what I can learn and this is
what we can build together and and I’m

82
00:06:36,729 –> 00:06:41,770
so thankful that you know it’s taken two
and a half years to get to this point

83
00:06:41,770 –> 00:06:44,650
but it’s it’s worked

84
00:06:44,650 –> 00:06:52,210
now now admittedly admittedly I i did
have armed some hesitations at first

85
00:06:52,210 –> 00:06:58,120
right like oh you know I’m doing a lot
of different things I don’t know if this

86
00:06:58,120 –> 00:07:02,620
is really what I want to do what do I
want to really take a take a position

87
00:07:02,620 –> 00:07:10,509
within a company and and I was hesitant
because I felt defeated right like oh no

88
00:07:10,509 –> 00:07:15,879
I’m giving up on on what I want and I’m
giving up on my dreams and I’m settling

89
00:07:15,879 –> 00:07:19,719
for something but but the thing is but
the truth is like when I really broke it

90
00:07:19,719 –> 00:07:22,300
down like and thought about it

91
00:07:22,300 –> 00:07:29,229
no it’s not what I’m actually doing is
I’m helping build something and putting

92
00:07:29,229 –> 00:07:34,779
all my skills that I’ve already proven
that i have in my family’s business in

93
00:07:34,779 –> 00:07:41,830
my own business and applying that to
helping kids get out of really terrible

94
00:07:41,830 –> 00:07:46,930
situations and come out of it stronger
than when they went in and that I mean I

95
00:07:46,930 –> 00:07:52,509
can’t ask for a better situation this
isn’t joe going to a desk and saying oh

96
00:07:52,509 –> 00:07:59,409
man this is you know the titrated all
what I had going on for this for a

97
00:07:59,409 –> 00:08:04,960
paycheck this is joe going in and like
helping kids one day and the next day

98
00:08:04,960 –> 00:08:10,120
working with clients to get them better
all the set them up better for what they

99
00:08:10,120 –> 00:08:15,550
need in their businesses as well as the
business of hope works and and the web

100
00:08:15,550 –> 00:08:20,319
development side of stuff so this is
like this is like a culmination of

101
00:08:20,319 –> 00:08:25,539
everything that I want to do everything
that I i love about business and I’m

102
00:08:25,539 –> 00:08:32,799
getting that that chance to to put that
that awesome gold star on my resumé of

103
00:08:32,799 –> 00:08:36,819
things that I’ve accomplished in such a
short amount of time since leaving my

104
00:08:36,820 –> 00:08:41,529
family’s business now as far as my
projects the things that I do and the

105
00:08:41,529 –> 00:08:45,670
things that i love and the things that
I’m known for ya

106
00:08:45,670 –> 00:08:50,19
at first i was like oh man you know i’m
going to not have enough time to do all

107
00:08:50,19 –> 00:08:53,620
these things but actually it’s the
complete opposite when I when I really

108
00:08:53,620 –> 00:08:58,120
thought about it when I really broke
down the things that I’m doing and

109
00:08:58,120 –> 00:09:01,959
working on and things that would love to
work on there are so many projects i

110
00:09:01,959 –> 00:09:07,329
want to work on there so many projects
that really I you know I just haven’t

111
00:09:07,329 –> 00:09:11,620
had time so so two of those projects is
that my party card game that I just

112
00:09:11,620 –> 00:09:17,860
haven’t had time to do the reason is is
I i have the game together in my mind I

113
00:09:17,860 –> 00:09:20,829
haven’t started to build the game
because i realize how long it’s going to

114
00:09:20,829 –> 00:09:28,209
take to do it to flush it out to go from
concept to play testing to order

115
00:09:28,209 –> 00:09:34,149
building it to play testing to building
it in a retail tight box you know

116
00:09:34,149 –> 00:09:39,160
getting a printed and all that stuff to
taking it to market take doing the

117
00:09:39,160 –> 00:09:45,250
Kickstarter all of that stuff is just it
just takes so much time and it you know

118
00:09:45,250 –> 00:09:49,180
there’s other ways that I can go about
do like doing projects that make money

119
00:09:49,180 –> 00:09:56,140
now and here where I’m not like hey a
year from now I’m gonna be able to get

120
00:09:56,140 –> 00:10:03,160
this game out and you know we’re gonna
crank it out stuff like that so the

121
00:10:03,160 –> 00:10:06,730
other project that i really want to work
on is that followed to adventure tourism

122
00:10:06,730 –> 00:10:11,800
if you know eventually tutorial it’s the
the DJ album i did it launched it really

123
00:10:11,800 –> 00:10:16,569
kick-started this whole idea of like I’m
going to go out on my own i’m going to

124
00:10:16,570 –> 00:10:21,610
do something I’m going to trust myself
and my skills and I’m going to take it

125
00:10:21,610 –> 00:10:28,270
to that level that i know i can and i
have the problem his is um music albums

126
00:10:28,270 –> 00:10:32,680
in details they take a lot of time to
put together a lot of passion that’s got

127
00:10:32,680 –> 00:10:38,349
to go into it and you know they don’t
make it especially DJ albums they don’t

128
00:10:38,350 –> 00:10:43,570
make a lot of money if any money so
because the the art form isn’t really

129
00:10:43,570 –> 00:10:45,699
legal so it creates that

130
00:10:45,699 –> 00:10:51,69
under like how much time can i best in
something like that where I’m not going

131
00:10:51,69 –> 00:10:58,29
to be making money it’s really really
tough arm but now that I’m making you

132
00:10:58,29 –> 00:11:02,49
know going to be getting a paycheck and
going to have set hours where I don’t

133
00:11:02,49 –> 00:11:06,220
have to worry about like where my next
paycheck is going to come from because

134
00:11:06,220 –> 00:11:09,699
you know truth be told I haven’t made
like a ton of time money from all this

135
00:11:09,699 –> 00:11:16,508
stuff I made enough but enough is isn’t
isn’t enough to not have to worry about

136
00:11:16,509 –> 00:11:21,819
the next month you know it’s it’s it’s
not that I’m not that far along and

137
00:11:21,819 –> 00:11:26,889
that’s ok that’s alright so I’m going to
be able to do and dedicate time to those

138
00:11:26,889 –> 00:11:31,480
projects i’m going to be able to
dedicate time to the middle and podcast

139
00:11:31,480 –> 00:11:35,410
conference i’m going to be able to
dedicate time to the dreamers podcast

140
00:11:35,410 –> 00:11:40,629
here while still co-authoring the wisdom
of wall for kids which the words of a

141
00:11:40,629 –> 00:11:44,739
wall you don’t have it you should go
pick it up it was I think it’s with my

142
00:11:44,739 –> 00:11:45,850
wallet com

143
00:11:45,850 –> 00:11:50,769
maybe possibly not seeing a website on
the back of this but go check it out

144
00:11:50,769 –> 00:11:55,299
check it out on amazon really great book
dr. Jeff Barnes does a does a great job

145
00:11:55,299 –> 00:11:59,499
of writing a book and together we have
some really awesome ideas that we’re

146
00:11:59,499 –> 00:12:04,809
going to be putting together for a kid’s
version so from like seven years old to

147
00:12:04,809 –> 00:12:08,649
like 13 years old that’s where the sweet
spots going to be for our version of the

148
00:12:08,649 –> 00:12:14,919
book anyway and the other book that I’ll
be able to work on arm is my city my

149
00:12:14,919 –> 00:12:20,859
book sales won’t save your business and
to me that book is going to be a

150
00:12:20,859 –> 00:12:25,119
play-by-play of like everything that I
did over the years within my family’s

151
00:12:25,119 –> 00:12:31,509
business to make God just to help keep
it running and keep it going through the

152
00:12:31,509 –> 00:12:37,539
years and making it better optimizing
the processes working through like

153
00:12:37,539 –> 00:12:44,499
employee issues and and working through
generational gaps and people having to

154
00:12:44,499 –> 00:12:48,730
learn things and things like I had to
learn as well along the way because you

155
00:12:48,730 –> 00:12:52,179
know just because it’s the right way
doesn’t mean that it’s the way that

156
00:12:52,179 –> 00:12:55,419
everybody wants to go about doing things
so there’s things that I’ve learned that

157
00:12:55,419 –> 00:12:57,490
we you know that you have to work
through over

158
00:12:57,490 –> 00:13:01,959
over the course of time so these
projects are all things that I’m gonna

159
00:13:01,959 –> 00:13:07,810
be able to do with confidence because i
have the money in place to do it

160
00:13:07,810 –> 00:13:13,779
I have arm and at the same time I’m
gonna be able to learn all new set of

161
00:13:13,779 –> 00:13:18,939
skills i’m taking you know what I you
know the 31 life changing concepts book

162
00:13:18,940 –> 00:13:23,680
which if you don’t have it you should go
get it it’s a great little book it’s on

163
00:13:23,680 –> 00:13:27,819
amazon Joe parts 31like changing
concepts were and as well as my other

164
00:13:27,820 –> 00:13:33,190
book the how to dream big and when
coloring book going and pick that up eh

165
00:13:33,190 –> 00:13:37,390
you know these two books are really
going to help me work with the the

166
00:13:37,390 –> 00:13:45,730
teenagers at hope works to help bring
them to like add told from world of

167
00:13:45,730 –> 00:13:53,890
optimism optimism and and been self
pride and take in allowing them to have

168
00:13:53,890 –> 00:14:01,480
the confidence in themselves to and
permission within themselves to succeed

169
00:14:01,480 –> 00:14:04,990
at what it is that they want to do no
matter what it is if it’s in program if

170
00:14:04,990 –> 00:14:10,630
it’s in whatever the gate the goal maybe
for them i want to help make that happen

171
00:14:10,630 –> 00:14:18,70
for them so i’m super excited that we’re
going to be taking all the things that

172
00:14:18,70 –> 00:14:23,920
I’ve learned and applying that in and
getting to grow a business that it you

173
00:14:23,920 –> 00:14:27,279
know is attached to a nonprofit
organization doing amazing things in

174
00:14:27,279 –> 00:14:29,350
Camden New Jersey which we don’t know

175
00:14:29,350 –> 00:14:34,720
camden new jersey is one of consistently
rated like one of the top five most

176
00:14:34,720 –> 00:14:39,790
dangerous cities in America so it you
know and it’s only 20 minutes from my

177
00:14:39,790 –> 00:14:43,270
house so I’m super proud of the fact
that i’m going to be able to make a

178
00:14:43,270 –> 00:14:48,699
difference in my backyard with those
those teens with the company and make a

179
00:14:48,700 –> 00:14:56,320
difference in other people’s businesses
it’s I mean I it’s really it’s really

180
00:14:56,320 –> 00:15:02,410
really amazing to me and I and I and I’m
so grateful for the opportunity that I

181
00:15:02,410 –> 00:15:07,719
have afforded myself along this way I’m
so happy to have you along on this

182
00:15:07,720 –> 00:15:11,329
journey so you normally on fridays i
like

183
00:15:11,329 –> 00:15:16,219
did you know have a short episode this
is already been 15 minutes where I just

184
00:15:16,220 –> 00:15:20,239
talked about one specific topic in
business but i think the lesson here is

185
00:15:20,239 –> 00:15:25,279
that even though you know something
might feel like your letting going or

186
00:15:25,279 –> 00:15:30,619
failing or being defeated or going back
on what it is that you thought you set

187
00:15:30,619 –> 00:15:34,399
out to do the truth that matters when I
really thought back about the 02 and a

188
00:15:34,399 –> 00:15:35,509
half years ago

189
00:15:35,509 –> 00:15:40,910
you know I was building my resume for
what it is that I wanted to do with my

190
00:15:40,910 –> 00:15:45,769
life and that’s one of the reasons why
someone so even like hey Joe you’re not

191
00:15:45,769 –> 00:15:50,749
making any money are you what are you
doing that to the like we gotta take

192
00:15:50,749 –> 00:15:55,579
your mind out of that and put it in the
frame set of like if I’m learning if I’m

193
00:15:55,579 –> 00:16:02,29
really learning what I want to do with
my like along the way that the same as

194
00:16:02,29 –> 00:16:06,980
it which is if when you’re going to
school making honey when you go to

195
00:16:06,980 –> 00:16:11,629
school isn’t the goal its to learn is to
get the knowledge to get so many of

196
00:16:11,629 –> 00:16:15,889
those things so I i really want you to
take a look at the things that you’re

197
00:16:15,889 –> 00:16:20,689
doing and see if they’re lining up with
where it is that you want ahead because

198
00:16:20,689 –> 00:16:22,9
it really should

199
00:16:22,9 –> 00:16:26,389
there needs to be at least some
convergence of where you wanna head and

200
00:16:26,389 –> 00:16:30,980
what you want to do and how you’re doing
it all like there needs to be a

201
00:16:30,980 –> 00:16:34,699
crossroads they’re like the crossroads
that I’m at and I’ll you know and then I

202
00:16:34,699 –> 00:16:38,959
kind of got stressed out about our may I
got stressed out about the idea that oh

203
00:16:38,959 –> 00:16:44,660
no maybe you know you have people will
be think less of me because i i’m i’m

204
00:16:44,660 –> 00:16:49,189
taking this job but it’s not to me it’s
not a job it’s an opportunity to to do

205
00:16:49,189 –> 00:16:53,480
some really great things that I would
not have the opportunity if I didn’t do

206
00:16:53,480 –> 00:16:59,269
if i didn’t take action and start this
platform for myself and for the people

207
00:16:59,269 –> 00:17:07,309
that have been a part of it and and it’s
it’s so hard to really put into words

208
00:17:07,309 –> 00:17:13,398
how grateful that i am for for all of
you to be on this journey and for me to

209
00:17:13,398 –> 00:17:17,750
have started it in the first place to
have the bravery to start to tell people

210
00:17:17,750 –> 00:17:21,888
oh this is the Germans pockets and
people say oh that’s it’s the dreamcast

211
00:17:21,888 –> 00:17:24,300
or something that’s its console like

212
00:17:24,300 –> 00:17:29,100
so long and like the the Millers platoon
over two years ago and people most

213
00:17:29,100 –> 00:17:34,469
people still had never even heard of the
word podcast before but you gotta be you

214
00:17:34,470 –> 00:17:37,710
gotta have a vision and you have to own
that vision and you have to go from

215
00:17:37,710 –> 00:17:41,70
there in fact I just had a conversation
with somebody who wants to help billion

216
00:17:41,70 –> 00:17:45,60
1,000,000,000 small business owners in a
set amount of time I’ve had

217
00:17:45,60 –> 00:17:49,470
conversations with other people that
want to help like I’m being 5,000

218
00:17:49,470 –> 00:17:56,280
speakers or you know a million or even
just a million small business owners in

219
00:17:56,280 –> 00:18:00,510
instance exit or entrepreneurs and X
amount of time you know in like two

220
00:18:00,510 –> 00:18:05,610
years i’m gonna help all these people
and it sounds really bold and crazy and

221
00:18:05,610 –> 00:18:06,929
wild and like

222
00:18:06,930 –> 00:18:11,10
but that’s the whole point of dreaming
is that you you throw it out there but

223
00:18:11,10 –> 00:18:14,580
at the same time you have to own it you
have to take charge because no one else

224
00:18:14,580 –> 00:18:15,810
is going to own it for you

225
00:18:15,810 –> 00:18:19,80
no one’s gonna love you the way you need
to love you and no one else is going to

226
00:18:19,80 –> 00:18:24,780
love your dream and your vision the way
you love your dream and your vision so

227
00:18:24,780 –> 00:18:31,620
