As you were scanning their website at the end, I caught something that said “Android version coming”
Does that mean they didn’t even tap the Android market yet? If that’s the case, they’re still in budding stage… It could explode over the next 5 years.
If this feature came with Google maps? An add-on as you suggested I would use it-and I don’t turn on my location services often. I don’t download lots of apps-I’m old, but I would use this feature.
It would also help us know where we are give directions without having to look at a GPS. Especially trying to figure out where you are at night in the dark… Google maps doesn’t do that.
Very unsafe driving through Canada & The Yukon south, Alaska with all those moose, bison and goats on the roads… Seriously can’t take your eyes off the road for one tenth of a split second… I can see this enhancing my road safety.
And even if we don’t have cell service in those areas, are location services still work. You setup your map, go and don’t touch it until you get to the next Tim Hortons to hook up to their Wi-Fi, then you reset your maps for the next leg of your trip… That would be great to download the stories cuz then I’d know where I was when I didn’t even have cell service!

My thoughts exactly! This is the MVP and the version that gets this evaluation, but definitely will be $100M+ app by the next 1 or 2 iterations! I’m curious if Mr. Wonderful got in contact with him afterward and ended up investing… I believe he did.
I’d put money into it. It will be quite successful. They are expanding into Europe.
Kinda cool I suppose, but I could just get someone in the car to read these random stories from Google/Wikipedia. Also if I’m listening to music a show or a podcast why would I want to be interrupted with these stories?

One thing about the Sharks, they are not Star struck and want the better celebrity valuation deal. Google already has the experience content available for worldwide application and would just need to figure out how to deliver it through maps.
Joe, one thing you would like is I noticed the guy responds quickly to the negative reviews in the App Store.
I agreed with Robert. It’s something that should be added as a feature to something else.
If I were Amazon, I can add this feature to Audible.
It’s still a bit of work to build such a feature. It would be quicker and easier for them to just acquire a company that already does it, especially if they do it really well.
The gps systems can add this feature (car gps or apple/google maps)
I was thinking Audible route teaming up with Google but maybe that would take too long of a process. But that’s a Damn good idea/product. This will definitely go far if they can get certain influencers/celebrities to do a couple of voice over. That app should cost waaaaay more than it’s going for. Such and under sell
Adding on to the thought…You could have “Black History Month inspired” “Infamous crime locations”
Hip Hop edition where you have celebrities talk about famous Hip Hop legends and what events had occurred there.
That app has soooooooo much potential, I would have gotten him to 8% and closed the deal. And if anything I would have taken the 7% but with royalties per app. It would need to go to monthly. Each demographic has an event or some kind of “specific traditional holiday” day. Not only that it gives people the urge to explore and they’re going to do it with the voices they connect to the most.

Instead of a subscription make it like a lonely planets collection of audio guidebooks $3.99 apiece for each destination you want to visit, 99 cents for smaller location triggered guides eg $3.99 for all of say Paris or 99 cents each for Eiffel tower, notre dame etc when you’re at those sites if you don’t want the whole hog

The way you keep it fresh is integrating AI… with this guy’s experience in the field, I’m sure he has his code and IP wrapped up under legal safe lock. This version of the app is early and an MVP of sorts to get to this evaluation, but with the look in his eyes, he knows this will be a $100M sale!

Lots of yearly road trips and this app was a great companion. Works as advertised. The stories and descriptions are great to hear to add “texture” to the “just whizzing by” experience. Long RV trip with it should be fun!

Honestly I don’t think there’s that many people that interested in the cultural landscape of where they are visiting that have smart phones. It is cheap enough for you to subscribe but if someone wanted some quick info they could just Google their location. There’s some novelty to having a celebrity narrate the backstory of your location but I feel like there’s just not enough value for the subscription rate they would need to make it a big profitable venture.
$70 for three years? That’s literally a steal even if you never use it. People who are more sentimental/curious/intellectual will use it. It’s going to be successful with educated millennials.
