Yeah, I’m surprised as well that they didn’t creep the offer up. I appreciate you Jordan!

Laurie is not an app person? That’s the reason she gave for going out? Lol… didn’t Damon and she invest in Scholly? I think sharks should be a little more transparent on their reasons for going out…

I mean generally speaking she isn’t an app person when she does things solo. But yeah the retention issue probably pushed her hand. Getting people to stay invested in a monthly subscription is tougher than most think. I’ve started several over the years and have learned a lot but it’s still very tough! I appreciate you Chichi!

@Super Joe Pardo True, it’s very difficult. And yes, while she may not be an “app person”, I think if she truly believed in them, she would have submitted an offer. 1. They truly need a developer on their team. HTML and CSS don’t cut it anymore. 2. I’m sensing stability and UX issues are leading to high churn. 3. To Mark’s point, there are numerous competing applications, so they will also need to clearly define their UVP like Brightwheel was able to do. However, I am still very much so impressed at what they were able to do ($$$) without programming experience and wish them all the best. Appreciate you, Joe!

@Chichi Okolo Dude, no. App person is not just needed to do a one time app building and you left it work by itself. I work in IT for more than 10 years, got my undergrad and postgrad degree in IT too. Though the logic may the same, the tools, methodologies and techs keep evolving. Say 15 years ago or so, it’d be profitable to know symbian programming for nokia, microsoft mobile programming for their handheld device, and know mere html and javascript etc for web development. Now? Not the first two examples I mentioned is not used anymore, now while web developments are still in use and the tech needed for animation and stuffs differ, you need to understand and be experienced using flutter/ native mobile programming, etc for more and more need of mobile apps. And guess what, in short term period, the versions keep updating (e.g. app need to be compatible with each android and iOS new versions). You need to come up with fixes and patches (app updates on your phone apps) should the development techs decide to change, moreover the security enhancement needed that’s just found/invented/overcome to prevent identity theft and stuffs. It’s not that simple! You need to keep working and updating your app, maintenance is continually needed throughout the app lifetime. App is not just a one time build. You need to keep up with technology that keeps on changing. How you build your app now would look outdated and may not be able to be opened in newer mobile OS versions in the future if you don’t keep testing and fixing the app everytime the OS versions come up.

I think Lori is right not to take it if she is not confident the entrepreneurs can handle the above and/or she doesn’t have people capable of doing the above. Or else the apps would be dead soon and money and business would be gone.

@Maya Paramita 1. I’m not a “dude.” 2. I’m a programmer and I understand apps very well. 3. Your dissertation is pointless and convoluted. This is a silly discussion unworthy of so many letters. 4. Laurie has “tech connections.” It’s absolutely impossible for her to not have one given how extensive her network is and how common it is to meet someone in tech nowadays. 5. It boils down to lack of trust in the entrepreneur.

I do understand where both of you are coming from. But at the end of the day it is up to the producer and editor of the show to decide what makes it into the show and what doesn’t, as well as what gets extended and what doesn’t.

I appreciate you both watching and commenting!

Stop being ignorant read about sickle-cell first then you can make your mind up people who live with sickle-cell some of them live with mild once and some of them live with serious condition, the average life of a person with mild would be between 30 to 40 and a mild one can leave 40 to 50

Depending on when the dip was, like say when Covid popped up, then in the beginning, everyone is on board because it’s something the kids can do and the parents can get their work done. But the further you move into the pandemic, the less money people have and unfortunately, you’re correct, arts & music get cut first.

    Just my theory.

Maybe parents enroll their kids during the school year, and come September they cancel due to other extracurricular activities/expenses….they said homeschooling kids were popular, maybe they go to camp and such at year end? But yes maybe their curriculum isn’t structured enough, maybe the next year when the kid is older the program isn’t challenging enough etc. I’d like to see the structure.

Sparketh is an absolute scam. We attempted to cancel our subscription because our daughter did not connect with the lessons. Sparketh refused to cancel my account until after I participated in an exit call, the soonest of which could only be scheduled after our billing date. If that wasn’t bad enough, they only allowed me to schedule calls between 5-6:30 am. This is a predatory company and I would advise that everyone avoid them at all costs.

That is terrible to hear. I’m really sorry to hear that you’ve had this experience. Did you wind up getting to cancel? I appreciate you sharing your experience.
