This would not work. Its BS. I worked for a produce company for a long time. As a banana and most fruits ripen, they release ethylene gas. That same gas speeds up the ripening process. So if you want to quickly ripen a fruit, place it in something air tight, so it is trapped with its own ethylene gas. To prevent ripening, keep it in a vented container (or out of a container all together). There are also zeolites that absorb the gas. But that really only help with berries. When we would get fruit that was not ripe enough to sell, we would place it in a room, and fill the room with ethylene gas to speed up the process for sale.0
