Yep, the Nextdoor guy was his ticket. Sometimes, though, as an entrepreneur there is an artful way to disagree. If that guy did intend to help him, it was certainly dashed after the entrepreneur’s snappy response. Also — he was right — you will have to go neighborhood to neighborhood. No fire station is going to advertise this product to people unless the business model is changed and you can’t guarantee that a fireman will tell enough people about it for it to be impactful. Question is: how is this better than Thumbtack or TaskRabbit?
I guess the difference is the person providing the services – Firefighters vs non-firefighters.
Some people view firefighters as elite, Nobel citizens. I can see it being successful if local fire departments adopt it into their philanthropy efforts.
@MOE Better TV I don’t see it working or scaling beyond Task Rabbit. The firefighter aspect eliminates the need to do background checks per se, but because firemen are such a small segment of total US adults, he will have a hard time maintaining acceptable response times. I could be totally wrong.

If I heard it correctly, he mentioned earlier in his pitch that there was an app that does almost the exact same thing. The only difference is the firemen aspect. Plus the Target market is senior citizens, who aren’t exactly the most techy people around. He’s limited by that in a way. Although 800k since 2018 is pretty big.

Hey joe iam currently working on a more effective way to cool down homes. My current job is 7-11 engineering service tech. I do everything in regards to refrigeration. From walk In, to slurpee , ice makers. Everything temperature control in a 7-11 I work on within 30 store by myself. I’ve been doing refrigeration/HVAC 10 YEARS . And iam working on a renewable resource way to power any type of temp control system.
