Yo joe, good question about the amount of times a knife needs sharpening. It’s actually isn’t good to sharpen knives too often as it could effect its life, better to sharpen it once in a while and “reshape it” with a stick as knives remain sharp for a long period of time but gather burr.

Seems like it is, though it does make me curious to look up a local business first. Might be cheaper, get to support a local business, and the reduced carbon footprint on your knives. Obviously, not an option for everyone but I do want to look it up now. lol

Am I the only person who was not impressed with the idea and/or pitch? All they did for a pitch is show a sharp knife cuts better than a dull one, yes we know this, that’s logical thinking. Also, if you are someone who is going to pay for this and cares/uses the knife so much will they be ok with not having it for a week?

This also got me thinking where could I get my knives sharpen locally.

@RegularGuyReacts That’s not really important, and it didn’t seem to bother 5 sharks. Like you said, it’s logical thinking that a sharp knife is going to cut better. This service isn’t really for people who have cheap knives, *it is* for knives that costs 100s, 1,000s of $.

I think this a great service. I don’t think they will make 100s of millions in profit from this, but they will definitely make millions from this.

@RegularGuyReacts If you’re someone like Chef Wonderful, you have dozens of knives. Same for a professional, such as a chef.

Yes, you can sharpen them yourselves, but if you sharpen them yourselves, is the sharpening going to be as good?

And, not everyone wants to sharpen their own knives, just like not every chef wants to cook their own dinner.

As I said, this business will make 10s of millions, but not 100s of millions, as there is only a small amount of people wanting their knives sharpened.

How many people who were on shark tank have you gotten to be on your YouTube channel? Do you reach out to them on their social media to get them on or just ask them in these videos you do and hope they see it?

Hearing their behind the scenes at shark tank would be fun to listen to

I’ve had about 10 so far, but many more have reached out. The scheduling is being worked out. I don’t reach out to them generally. They usually see the video, comment, I send them my email address and we connect. 🙂

You can watch the ones I’ve done so far here: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLqvIutEsQqv5zBtDroJXwtsbZoVdKLb7A

I have 2 more coming out the next two Wednesdays and I have a few more scheduled for the future. 🙂

    Answering questions:

KnifeAid doesn’t train people to sharp knifes, they hire people who have a certain level of experience

And they started knife aid in California because they had already moved so much and wanted to settle somewhere

Joe on this one I would’ve went with Kevin oleary without blinking. He is credible in this area and knows the market and how to raise profit margins.. For me this should be branded as somewhat of a premium business because people are not going to do this for shitty knives and I think Kevin is just the ideal partner to transform this into the “go to company” to sharpen your knife and also help them expand and develop to other products, building a business which is more than just sharpening knives. he has a lot of connections and know-how on this area and is passionate about this.

I want my knives sharpened….but I don’t want to send them out……that’s annoying.

There is a sharpening company like an ice cream truck they ding their bell and come down all the streets a few times a month…..and sharpened on the spot, while I stay in my house….not willing to ship them out…maybe a restaurant or chef would, I get that. I prefer quick and home service and paid per piece on the spot.

These guys should have a mobile service. Move with the times.

Depending on a knifes ability to hold an edge, knives used daily should be sharpened every 4 to 8 weeks..
